About the scholarship

Summary

The MVCE More Indigenous TAFE Educators (MITE) Scholarship aims to empower and support Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people who aspire to pursue a career in education within the education sector.

This scholarship is designed to address the underrepresentation of Indigenous educators in TAFE institutions by providing financial assistance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities. Through this initiative, we seek to enhance diversity and cultural inclusion within the education sector, fostering a learning environment that reflects the richness of Indigenous perspectives.

Eligibility and selection criteria

Eligibility

Applicants must be:

  • an Australian citizen
  • of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage.
Enrolment criteria

Applicants must be:

  • enrolled in the MVCE Certificate IV in Training and Assessment course in 2026.

 

Selection criteria

Applications and ongoing eligiblity will be assessed based on: 

  • confirmation of course enrolment
  • ongoing enrolment in program
  • active participation and engagement in studies, including regular class attendance
  • registration with MVCE tutoring/support services (Indigenous Academic Success Program (IASP).

Students who are not enrolled and actively participating in the program will not be eligible for the final payment.

Submit a personal statement of up to 500 words addressing:

  • your passion and commitment to study
  • how this scholarship will help you achieve your educational goals.

Confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Heritage

Provide evidence to confirm you are of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage by submitting:

  • a Confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Heritage certificate (COA), or 
  • a certified Statutory Declaration declaring that the individual applying for the scholarship is of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, and/or is accepted as such by the community in which you live, or formerly lived.

Registration

  • provide evidence you have connected (or have registered) with MVCE tutoring/support services (Indigenous Academic Success Program (IASP)).
