Overview

Fashion is a dynamic sector that is in constant flux. This unit will advance understanding of new technologies and apply them to wearable textile and fashion outcomes. Fashion items such as, technology-enabled wearable garments, smart jewellery, connected products and their application will be explored. Students will apply the appropriate technologies to design outcomes to suit the design and market context.

Unit learning outcomes

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:

  1. Examine application of data driven technology in fashion design
  2. Utilise prototyping techniques to create functional and aesthetically pleasing wearable technology fashion and accessories
  3. Evaluate the sustainable, ethical and social implications of wearable technology and data-driven fashion
  4. Produce design proposals that communicate and present wearable fashion concepts
